This class will primarily discuss the SARSAT system, how it works, and what information and search techniques would be applicable to the Mountain Rescue Professional in the search for ELTs, PLBs, and EPIRBs. Focussed discussion of recent program updates including the LEOSAR to MEOSAR transition. This seminar will also discuss: national SAR system organization, Rescue Coordination Centers, USCG and AFRCC interaction, CG unit roles (station/Sector/District), and non-SARSAT satellite emergency notification devices (SENDS).
