Getting Here

Northbound on Hwy. 101 From San Francisco

Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and take the Alexander Ext (the 2nd exit after the bridge, directly after the Vista Point exit)
Veer right onto Sausalito Lateral Road (do not go under the freeway)
Take the first left (in approximately 1/10th of a mile, the left hand turn lane) on to Bunker Road. Go straight on Bunker Road to the tunnel entrance, then follow the directions from tunnel.

Southbound on Hwy. 101 from Marin

Take the Alexander Avenue exit (2.5 miles past the 1st Sausalito exit, the exit directly after the Spencer Avenue/Monte Mar Drive exit). It is the last exit before the Golden Gate Bridge
Turn right and follow the road under Highway 101.
Go straight after the stop sign and take the first left (in approximately 1/10th of a mile, let hand turn lane) onto Bunker Road. Go straight on Bunker Road to the tunnel entrance, then follow directions from tunnel.

Explore the Golden Gate National Recreation Area

Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) is the home for the MRA Annual Sar Exercise.

GGRNA was established by Congress in 1972 and is one the largest urban parks in the world, welcoming over 17 million visitors per year. The park is both expansive (it protects more than 80,00 acres of landscapes) and diverse (it is also home to over 3,000 plant and animal species). It spans from San Mateo to San Francisco into Marin County and contains recognized attractions such as Alcatraz Island, Chrissy Field, Muir Woods, Point Bonita Lighthouse, the Marin Headlands (home for the MRA event) and more. Interestingly, much of the GGRNA park is land formerly used by the United States Army.
