About the Course

The Arizona Vortex Workshop is a 1 day intensive, hands-on course that progresses the student through the various configurations of the Arizona Vortex. The workshop will progress from the basic set-ups, such as the easel A-frame, to various bi-pod configurations and, ultimately, the monopod or gin pole set-ups. The course will be a great precursor to the technical rescue track during the conference! Skills taught include: Vortex hardware, Assembly, Configurations, Modes of use, Applied force theory, Foot hobbling techniques, Guy angles

Personal harness, helmet, 4 locking carabiners, descent control device, rope grab (mechanical or prussik), personal ascent system, rope gloves, eye protection/sunglasses, sunscreen

Housing

While event housing will not be available for pre-event courses and it is up to the participant to arrange their own housing, the event is holding a block of rooms at the nearby Embassy Suites
